We did this cruise in September 2024 during the best time to see hammerhead sharks. And indeed, it was a festival every time we went into the water! The weather conditions were sometimes rock and roll, with outings in the middle of storms and rough seas, but each time underwater, it was paradise... This destination often categorized among the 5 best diving sites in the world fully deserves its reputation. The boat would nevertheless require a little renovation given the price of the cruise. I highly recommend this cruise which is one of my most beautiful diving trips and thank SeaCrush for a flawless organization.
An unforgettable diving experience..!! Exceptional encounters with hammerheads on their cleaning stations in Manuelita, Alcyone and Dirty Rock, large schools of hammerheads in the blue on almost every dive, the impressive tiger shark seen three times, manta rays, large schools of jacks... in short, memorable dives, with relatively little current. The visits to the island were nice too, even if short. The boat needs a good coat of paint and some improvements, the cabins on the lower deck are really small, but the diving is so incredible that we overlook it... Excellent organization with the tanks that stay on the zodiac all week. Very good ladder to get back on the zodiac. The dive guides Felipe and Anibal were absolutely excellent, in addition to being adorable. What a joy!
This trip is not inexpensive but worth every penny. The dive guides were exceptional, the dives were simply amazing... so many hammerheads as well as mantas, white tips, silver tips, the occasional tiger shark and very abundant marine life. The group put together by SeaCrush was super fun and everyone felt like self reliant divers so there was no messing around. Definitely a "trip of a lifetime" and highly recommended.
Join a small group of SeaCrush reef-friendly divers in September 2024, and dive in stunning Cocos Island, Costa Rica. The destination is often in the top five of experienced divers' bucket lists! Dives are action-filled with multiple shark species to look at, including white-tip reef sharks, giant hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks, but also dolphins, marble rays, manta rays, and 45 marine endemic species! Coco's Island dive sites have a fantastic topography with seamounts, arches, and caves.
The dive operator works closely with Mision Tiburon Costa Rica, a local NGO whose mission is to promote the marine investigation and conservation of Shark and Ray species in the country. Since 2010, the organization has been involved in educational activities with more than 3,000 children from fishing communities.
Divers experienced in currents with a minimum of a Level 2 certification. Most sites are deep and with medium to strong currents, attracting big pelagics.
